ROLE OF ICT.
ROLE OF ICT IN DIFFERENT FIELDS OF LIFE
As the world has become a global village ICT is playing a vital role in the advancement in ones life. Following is the summery of the three research papers I read about role of ICT in different fields of life. References are given below each summery.
Summery of research paper no 1:
ICTs stand for Information and Communication Technologies. According to Blurton, C ICT is defined as “diverse set of technological tools and resources used to communicate, create, disseminate, store, and manage information”. Technologies included in ICTs are: Redio and Television (broadcasting technology), Telephony, Computers, and the Internet.
As the world is growing rapidly and technological advancement is at peak ICT is playing a vital role in the society as it provides tools and methods in for
E-learning
e-learning encompasses learning at all levels, both formal and non-formal, that uses an information network—the Internet, an intranet (LAN) or extra net (WAN)—whether wholly or in part, for course delivery, interaction and/or facilitation. Others also term it as online learning.
E-payment
E-payment is a subset of an e-commerce transaction to include electronic payment for buying and selling goods or services offered through the Internet.
There are many types as Credit card, digital check, digital cash etc.
Videoconferencing
the transmission of text, and graphic, audio and visual media via the Internet; it requires the use of a computer with a browser and communication can be both synchronous and asynchronous.
Open and distance learning
As mentioned earlier ICT supports distance learning with a way to interact with one another. As this way of learning is very cheap it can be implemented in many developing countries.
Additionally video games and other entertainment platforms are becoming popular all thanks to advancement in ICT. Over all ICT has a major impact on today's world it may be come forwards a game changer for developing countries like Bangladesh .

Summery of research paper no 2:
This research paper emphasizes the importance of ICT in life especially in Education.
Introduction:
There seems to have been an uncanny lack of influence and change in education as compared to other fields. A number of people have attempted to explore this lack of activity and influence (eg. Soloway and Prior, 1996; Collis, 2002). But in recent times, factors have emerged which have encouraged moves to adopt ICTs in classrooms. As we move into the 21st century, these factors and many others are bringing strong forces to bear on the adoption of ICTs in education. This paper seeks to explore the likely changes we will see as ICT acts as a powerful agent to change many of the educational practices.
Impact of ICT on what we learn :
The impact of ICT on what is learned Conventional teaching has emphasized content. For many years course have been written around textbooks. Teachers have taught through lectures and presentations interspersed with tutorials and learning activities designed to consolidate and rehearse the content.
Curricula are starting to be concerned more with how the information will be used rather than what it is that students are learning, say Professors at Dundee University.
Impact of ICT on how students learn:
The growing use of ICT as an instructional medium is changing many of the strategies employed by both teachers and students in the learning and teaching process. The following sections describe particular forms of learning that are gaining prominence in universities and schools worldwide. Students are increasingly encouraged to take responsibility for their own learning through new technology-facilitated approaches.
Following are the major impacts
a- Student centered learning :
The use of ICT in educational settings acts as a catalyst for change in this domain. Students using ICTs for learning become immersed in the process of learning. As more and more students use computers as information sources and cognitive tools, the influence of the technology on how students learn will continue to increase.
• Moves towards problem-based learning
• Increased use of the Web as an information source, Internet users are able to choose the experts from whom they will learn The use of ICT in educational settings.
Impact of ICT on where students will learn:
any place learning:
The concept of flexibility in the delivery place of educational programs is not new (eg. Moore & Kearsley, 1996) and there has been a vast amount of research and development associated with establishing good practices in off-campus teaching and learning. Use of the technology has extended the scope of this activity and today more students are able to make this choice through technology-facilitated learning settings.
Any time learning:
Students are starting to appreciate the capability to undertake education anywhere, anytime and any place. Technology-facilitated educational programs also remove many of the temporal constraints that face learners with special needs (eg. Moore & Kearsley, 1996). Mobile technologies and seamless communications technologies support 24x7 teaching and learning.
Conclusion:
The continued use and development of ICTs within education will have a strong impact on what is learned, how it is learned and when and where learning takes place. Learning should become more relevant to stakeholders' needs, learning outcomes should be more deliberate and targeted, and learning opportunities should diversity. Quality of programs as measured by fitness for purpose should continue to grow.

Summery of research paper no 3 :
Information and communication technologies (ICT) play a significant role in all aspects of modern society. As ICTs affect everyday lives, they also impact the macroeconomic growth, which in turn further affects society by enabling infrastructure and standard of living improvements. The papers in this special edition all deal with the role that ICT play in various aspects of society and socioeconomic development.
To access the relationship between socioeconomic development and ICT existing frameworks and models are observed .
>Mondon (2000) proposed a conceptual framework that attempts to explain the interaction between the ICT and socioeconomic development in developing countries. The framework was developed based on the literature, anecdotal evidence, and conjecture. It suggests that the ICT has a mainly positive impact on four main factors: economic growth, social well-being, education, and the alleviation of poverty.
> A team of researchers in Bangladesh has developed a framework for understanding how Information and Communication Technology (ICT) can lead to socioeconomic development at the community level. The authors looked at three community centers (BRAC Gonokendra) which provide economic and social programs to people and communities in poverty.
Due to ICT a large amount of data can be processed in less time this has lead to advancement in many areas as medicine, science and technology.
As now scientists are using data bases to access genetic information which leads to the discovery of new medicines and procedures.
In the field education ICT has introduced new and innovative ways to learn and teach.
ICT is also responsible for the thriving of businesses as it helps to communicate and discover new ways to promote and thrive young businesses more easily.
ICT is providing innovation in all of the fields which are above mentioned thus is important and is contributing in modern world in a positive manner.
